Charmolypi
This short analog publication made with pen, ink and watercolors, was one of the two projects I had to work on and submit along with my application in order to get accepted in the Willem de Kooning Academy.
Creating during a period of change, this booklet served both as a ‘hello’ to the exciting possibility of moving abroad and finally pursuing my passion for illustration, and a bitter ‘goodbye’ to everything I have known and loved so far, to the person I was at the moment, to my loved ones and most importantly, my brother.
The title ‘Charmolypi’ ( consisting from the greek words chara = happiness, and lypi = sadness) reflects exactly this bittersweet feeling deriving from the act of escaping a place unfit for me with the full knowledge that I will miss it with all my heart, forever.
