Interactive Installation

December  2023

During the months I worked on a publication on the issue of abortion along with my classmate Maria Ruszczak, I got to do extensive research on the topic and increase my interest for it.
When me and Maria were asked to create an interactive installation based on this research for our major we were pleased. We wanted our piece to ignite a dialog rather that preach and teach. We made online questionnaires, surveys and interviews on the topic, and then combined all the results and experineces to create the final piece.
Our installation turned out to be two chairs in an empty roon, with a screen on the background asking ‘Should abortion be legal?’. There was a ‘Yes’ and a ‘No’ chair, and the audience was free to sit to whichever resonated with them.  With the use of projection maping and interface the audience could triger a video to play depending on where they would choose to sit.
The videos were edits of people talking about abortion, reacting to abortion laws and sharing their experineces, and they were meant to cultivate empathy towards  femininities who went through abortion .
The most important feature of the installation was that when two people would sit in both chairs, a graph would appear, encouraging them to discuss their opinions.
